Today is the 19th Anniversary of Polly Klaas' Kidnapping
In Honor of Polly Hannah Klaas 1981-1993
Today is the 19th anniversary of Polly’s kidnapping.
Many people are deeply touched on this day. They mourn for Polly, and worry for all children who may be in danger. They are saddened by innocence lost, and the shattered sense of personal safety that every child wants and deserves.
Hope drives our mission and is the Foundation’s reply to all of this.
The Polly Klaas Foundation’s focus on prevention is key to this hope and includes the distribution of our free Child Safety Kits to hundreds of thousands of families throughout the nation. Our kits help parents teach their children how to stay safe without scaring them. Parents can then share information about the Kits to family, friends and community members—creating a web of safety for neighborhoods & communities.
Our Rapid Response Team eVolunteers across the country dedicate their time and energy to print and distribute missing child posters on bulletin boards within their local communities.
We know that diligent and concerned citizens do take notice of missing child posters. It is not unusual for our professional caseworkers to receive tips and sightings that directly lead to the safe recovery of a missing child.
We also know that dedicated members like you who receive our monthly eNews regularly discuss important safety topics with friends and family and often are asked to forward the eNews to their network of contacts.
And now our growing number of Facebook fans and Twitter followers have become part of our team by engaging in and sharing our daily postings.
All of these actions create an unbroken message of hope. Hope for the well-being of all children and hope that, one day, all missing children will return home to the care and safety of their families.
We thank you for being an important part of Polly’s legacy and for joining a growing movement of concerned citizens who are actively searching for missing children and working to keep all children safe.
