The work of the Polly Klaas® Foundation has significantly improved public awareness of the problems associated with missing, abducted, and victimized children. The strength in the Foundation's partnerships with fellow AMECO members, law enforcement agencies, and other like-minded organizations demonstrates its significant leadership in protecting children.”
The Polly Klaas® Foundation was nominated for this award by Trish Derby of the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness, who also serves as the President of the Board of Directors of the Association of Missing and Exploited Children’s Association (AMECO.) This Award is given only to AMECO member organizations. Previous Awardees are the Laura Recovery Center and Nevada Child Seekers.
At the awards ceremony, Bob De Leo, Executive Director of the Polly Klaas® Foundation stated,
"I accept this honor with deep appreciation on behalf of my colleagues at the Foundation, our Board of Directors and everyone affiliated with our organization. While this award acknowledges our contributions in the field for over 18 years, we know that none of us stand alone in the cause of keeping children safe. We are interdependent and in that spirit we share this honor with our associates in OJJDP, AMECO and countless community organizations around the country."
